Youth Program Outreach Coordinator
Inclusive Program for LGBT+ Students
20 hours/week, starting March 3, 2025
Salary: $20/hour + mileage
Qualifications

Demonstrate specialized knowledge of intersectionality of gender identity, sexual orientation, race, class and religion.

Have experience working with school-aged youth.

Be strongly committed to uplifting, advocating for, and supporting LGBT+ youth.

Have skills to support students with different ability levels and social/emotional needs.

Has demonstrated experience working directly with students in K-12 schools or community-based settings.

Be a self-starter and able to work independently.

Possess good decision-making skills.

Is required to provide statewide child abuse clearances prior to starting in position.

Possesses the ability to communicate well verbally and in writing.

Possesses the ability to follow written and oral directions.

Remains focused on the Mission of Centre LGBT+ as a representative of the organization.
Job Description:
Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Youth Outreach Coordinator is responsible for providing programs for school students in school and community settings throughout Centre County. This person must lead groups of students in their communities by making necessary arrangements for meetings, helping youth plan activities according to their needs and desires, and be a positive role model for them. The Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing and helping students to conduct positive activities both for their own personal growth and for civic engagement in their communities.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:

As an employee of Centre LGBT+, the Youth Outreach Coordinator provides youth programs in their communities.

This position reports to the Executive Director of Centre LGBT+.

Provides participants with opportunities to experience positive leadership, develop positive self identities, and discover positive roles within their communities.

Develops and plans activities that incorporate approved program goals into their daily routine.

Provides a warm and caring atmosphere for participants, maintaining a physically and emotionally safe environment for participants.

Maintains open communication between school staff, Executive Director, and board of directors of Centre LGBT+.

Prepares activities that are developmentally appropriate for the age of the children.

Communicates with parents through daily pick‐up, telephone conversations and/or email, requiring parental permission for participation in the youth program.

Attends weekly (or more if requested) meetings with the Executive Director.

Reports any problems which arise with participants, other employees, or the school to the Executive Director in a timely manner.

Is a Mandated Reporter, who must report suspected abuse to the state under PA Child Abuse law; informing the Executive Director of any report the same day as the report is made.
